Thesis Abstract

The serum has been a center of infection of all sorts, in which most diseases associated with the body revolve, causing alterations in the body’s system. Malaria, as a disease condition of the body (especially in mice) results from inflections with the malaria parasite introduced into the blood stream. (malaria parasite introduced is plasmodium berghei, berghei). Parameters related to the blood of which investigation was concerned were those involving serum protein and iron. A total of 20 mice, 15 with malaria infection, and 5 are non-infected mice (mice) also treated with tetracycline were used for the analysis. The following results were obtained in the end of the study and they are as follows; five animals infected, treated with (10mg/kg, underdose) of tetracycline has the total serum proteins and iron of mean and standard deviation for infected as 3.79 ± 0.96 and 2125.72 ± 947.5 respectively but the mean and standard deviation of control group were, (3.83 ± 1.33) and (1184.2 ± 473.6). At (20mg/kg normal dose = 3.95 ± 0.65) and 1547.14 and the control group were 3.83 ± 1.33 and 1184.2 ± 473.6. At (30mg/kg overdose) has the mean and standard deviation of total proteins and iron as 3.78 ± 0.55 and 1168.58 ± 360. 9 respectively. The reduction in iron level as the dose of the drugs increased is as a result of the chelating ability of tetracycline, significant changes also occurred for proteins. The biochemical implications of these results are these discussed.
