Analyzing the role of biochemistry in drug metabolism in the skin

Thesis Abstract

This project aims to analyze the role of biochemistry in drug metabolism in the skin, which plays a crucial role in determining the pharmacokinetics and efficacy of topically applied drugs. The project will focus on understanding the metabolic pathways involved in drug metabolism in the skin, including phase I and phase II reactions mediated by enzymes such as cytochrome P450s and sulfotransferases. Experimental techniques such as skin permeation studies, in vitro skin models, and mass spectrometry analysis will be employed to study the metabolism of specific drugs in the skin. The findings from this project will contribute to the optimization of topical drug formulations and the development of personalized medicine approaches for dermatological conditions.
