Thesis Abstract

This project aims to analyze the biochemistry of protein acetylation, a post-translational modification that plays a crucial role in cellular processes such as gene expression, protein stability, and cellular signaling. Protein acetylation involves the addition of an acetyl group to lysine residues, which can modulate protein function and interactions. The project will investigate the enzymatic processes involved in protein acetylation, including the role of acetyltransferases and deacetylases. Additionally, the project will explore the functional consequences of protein acetylation and its implications in various diseases, such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. The findings from this study will contribute to a better understanding of protein acetylation and may have implications for the development of targeted therapies.
