Thesis Abstract

Abstract
The importance of maintaining optimal gut health in poultry production cannot be overstated, as it directly impacts the overall performance and well-being of the birds. Probiotics have gained significant attention in recent years as a potential solution to improve gut health and enhance production efficiency in poultry farming. This study aims to investigate the effects of probiotics on gut health in poultry production, with a focus on understanding the mechanisms through which probiotics exert their beneficial effects and evaluating their impact on key performance indicators such as growth rate, feed efficiency, and immune response. The research methodology employed in this study includes a comprehensive review of existing literature on probiotics and gut health in poultry, as well as a series of experimental trials conducted in a controlled environment using broiler chickens as the model system. The experimental design involves the administration of different probiotic formulations at varying dosages to evaluate their effects on gut microbiota composition, intestinal morphology, nutrient absorption, and immune function. The findings from this study reveal that probiotics play a crucial role in modulating the gut microbiota composition, promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria while inhibiting the proliferation of pathogenic organisms. This microbial balance is essential for maintaining a healthy gut environment and enhancing nutrient utilization in poultry. Additionally, probiotics have been shown to improve intestinal integrity, increase nutrient absorption efficiency, and boost immune responses in birds, leading to improved growth performance and overall health. The results of this study provide valuable insights into the potential benefits of using probiotics as a natural alternative to antibiotics in poultry production. By promoting gut health and enhancing performance parameters, probiotics offer a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to improving productivity and profitability in the poultry industry. Further research is warranted to optimize probiotic formulations and dosages for specific production systems and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms driving their beneficial effects on gut health in poultry. In conclusion, this thesis underscores the significance of probiotics as a promising strategy for enhancing gut health and productivity in poultry production. By understanding the complex interactions between probiotics, gut microbiota, and host physiology, we can leverage this knowledge to develop targeted interventions that optimize performance and welfare outcomes in poultry farming. Embracing probiotics as a key tool in poultry nutrition and management practices holds great promise for sustainable and efficient production systems in the future.
