Abstract
The enhancement of gut health in poultry through the use of probiotics has gained significant attention in recent years due to its potential to improve performance and overall welfare of the birds. This study aimed to investigate the effects of probiotics on gut health in poultry, focusing on parameters such as growth performance, immune response, and gut microbiota composition. A comprehensive review of relevant literature was conducted to establish the background of the study and identify gaps in existing knowledge. The research methodology involved a randomized controlled trial using a sample of broiler chickens divided into treatment and control groups. Probiotics were administered to the treatment group through feed supplementation, while the control group received a standard diet. Various parameters, including body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, immune markers, and gut microbiota composition, were measured and analyzed. The findings revealed that the supplementation of probiotics positively influenced the growth performance of the birds, with improvements in weight gain and feed efficiency observed in the treatment group compared to the control group. Additionally, probiotics were found to modulate the immune response of the birds, leading to enhanced resistance against pathogens. Analysis of the gut microbiota showed a shift towards a more diverse and beneficial microbial community in the probiotic-treated birds. These results suggest that probiotics play a crucial role in promoting gut health in poultry by modulating the gut microbiota and enhancing the overall performance and well-being of the birds. The significance of this study lies in its contribution to the understanding of the mechanisms underlying the beneficial effects of probiotics in poultry production, with implications for promoting sustainable and healthy practices in the industry.
