Abstract
The poultry industry plays a vital role in meeting the global demand for animal protein. However, maintaining gut health in poultry is essential for ensuring optimal growth performance and overall well-being. Prebiotics, a type of feed additive, have been recognized for their potential to modulate the gut microbiota and improve gut health in poultry. This thesis investigates the effects of prebiotics on gut health in poultry production, with a focus on understanding their mechanisms of action and impact on performance parameters. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, discussing the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of terms. The literature review in Chapter Two explores ten key studies related to prebiotics and gut health in poultry, highlighting the current state of knowledge in this area. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study, including the experimental design, sample collection and analysis methods, and statistical techniques used for data interpretation. This chapter also discusses the ethical considerations and limitations of the research approach. In Chapter Four, the findings of the study are presented and discussed in detail. The effects of different types of prebiotics on gut health parameters, such as microbial composition, intestinal morphology, and immune responses, are analyzed. Additionally, the impact of prebiotics on growth performance, feed efficiency, and disease resistance in poultry is evaluated.
