Thesis Abstract

This research project aims to investigate the role of animal behavior in the formation and maintenance of social hierarchies. Social hierarchies are prevalent in many animal species, including primates, birds, and fish, and play a crucial role in determining access to resources, mating opportunities, and overall social stability within a group. Understanding the underlying behavioral mechanisms that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of social hierarchies is essential for gaining insights into social dynamics and evolutionary processes. This study will employ observational and experimental methods to examine the behavioral interactions and strategies employed by animals in the formation and maintenance of social hierarchies. The findings of this research will contribute to our understanding of social behavior and provide valuable insights into the mechanisms that shape social structures in the animal kingdom.
