Thesis Abstract
Abstract
This research project focuses on investigating managerial perception and social responsibilities for Nigerian firms, with a case study of Zodiac Hotels Ltd in Enugu. The aim of the study is to explore how managers at Zodiac Hotels perceive their social responsibilities and how these perceptions influence the firm's actions and strategies in meeting those responsibilities. The research will employ a qualitative approach, using interviews and observations to gather data from managers at Zodiac Hotels Ltd. The theoretical framework for this study is based on the stakeholder theory and institutional theory. The stakeholder theory suggests that firms have a responsibility not only to shareholders but also to all stakeholders affected by their actions. The institutional theory emphasizes the importance of social norms and values in shaping organizational behavior. By combining these two theories, this research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how managerial perception of social responsibilities is influenced by both internal and external factors. The findings from this study are expected to contribute to the existing literature on corporate social responsibility (CSR) by providing insights into the specific case of a Nigerian firm, Zodiac Hotels Ltd. By understanding how managers perceive and approach social responsibilities, this research can help identify areas where firms can improve their CSR strategies and practices. Additionally, the study will highlight the challenges and opportunities faced by Nigerian firms in balancing economic goals with social responsibilities. Overall, this research project seeks to shed light on the complex relationship between managerial perception and social responsibilities in Nigerian firms, using Zodiac Hotels Ltd as a case study. By exploring the factors that influence managerial decisions related to CSR, this study aims to provide practical recommendations for managers and policymakers seeking to promote sustainable and socially responsible business practices in Nigeria.
