Abstract
Climate change poses a significant threat to marine biodiversity, particularly in delicate ecosystems such as coral reefs. This thesis investigates the impact of climate change on marine biodiversity, focusing on a case study of coral reef ecosystems. The study aims to analyze the current state of coral reefs in the context of climate change, identify the key factors contributing to their decline, and propose potential solutions to mitigate these impacts. The research methodology employed a combination of field surveys, data analysis, and literature review to assess the status of coral reef ecosystems in the face of climate change. Findings indicate that rising sea temperatures, ocean acidification, and extreme weather events are major drivers of coral reef degradation. The loss of coral reefs not only threatens marine biodiversity but also jeopardizes the livelihoods of coastal communities dependent on these ecosystems for food and income. Through an in-depth discussion of the findings, this thesis highlights the urgent need for collaborative efforts among policymakers, scientists, and local communities to address the challenges posed by climate change to marine biodiversity. Strategies such as marine protected areas, sustainable fishing practices, and community-based conservation initiatives are identified as potential solutions to safeguard coral reef ecosystems.
