Abstract
Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising treatment modality for various degenerative diseases, including osteoarthritis, in both humans and animals. This thesis aims to investigate the potential use of stem cell therapy for treating osteoarthritis in dogs. Osteoarthritis is a common degenerative joint disease that affects dogs of all ages, leading to pain, inflammation, and reduced mobility. Current treatment options for osteoarthritis in dogs are limited and often focus on managing symptoms rather than addressing the underlying cause of the disease. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, highlighting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and structure of the thesis. The chapter also includes definitions of key terms related to stem cell therapy and osteoarthritis in dogs. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive literature review that examines existing studies on the use of stem cell therapy for treating osteoarthritis in dogs. The review covers topics such as the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis, the potential mechanisms of action of stem cells in regenerating joint tissues, and the outcomes of previous clinical trials and case studies.
