Abstract
This thesis investigates the effectiveness of probiotics in preventing and managing gastrointestinal disorders in dogs. Gastrointestinal disorders are prevalent in dogs and can significantly impact their health and well-being. Probiotics have gained attention as a potential therapeutic option due to their ability to modulate the gastrointestinal microbiota and promote beneficial gut health. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of probiotics in preventing and managing gastrointestinal disorders in dogs through a comprehensive review of existing literature, as well as a primary research component involving a controlled clinical trial. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, including the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of terms. The introduction sets the foundation for the study by highlighting the importance of gastrointestinal health in dogs and the potential benefits of probiotics in managing related disorders. Chapter Two consists of a detailed literature review that explores existing research on probiotics in dogs, gastrointestinal disorders, and the mechanisms through which probiotics may exert their beneficial effects. The literature review highlights the current state of knowledge in the field and identifies gaps that warrant further investigation. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study, including the study design, sample selection, probiotic intervention protocol, data collection methods, and statistical analysis plan.
