Abstract
This thesis investigates the effectiveness of stem cell therapy in treating osteoarthritis in dogs. Osteoarthritis is a common degenerative joint disease in dogs, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising treatment option for osteoarthritis due to its regenerative and anti-inflammatory properties. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of stem cell therapy in alleviating the symptoms of osteoarthritis in dogs, with a focus on assessing pain relief, improvement in joint function, and overall quality of life. The literature review provides a comprehensive overview of the current understanding of osteoarthritis in dogs, including its pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and existing treatment modalities. Key studies on stem cell therapy in veterinary medicine are also reviewed to establish the foundation for this research. The methodology chapter outlines the research design, sample selection criteria, stem cell isolation and administration protocols, outcome measures, and statistical analysis methods. A randomized controlled trial involving a cohort of dogs diagnosed with osteoarthritis will be conducted to compare the efficacy of stem cell therapy against conventional treatments. The findings from this study are discussed in detail in Chapter Four, highlighting the outcomes of stem cell therapy in terms of pain reduction, joint function improvement, and overall health status of the dogs. The results are analyzed and interpreted to draw meaningful conclusions regarding the efficacy and safety of stem cell therapy in managing osteoarthritis in dogs. In conclusion, the study contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of stem cell therapy as a viable treatment option for osteoarthritis in dogs. The findings underscore the potential of stem cells to promote tissue regeneration and modulate the inflammatory response, leading to improved clinical outcomes in affected animals. This research has implications for enhancing the welfare and quality of life of dogs suffering from osteoarthritis and may pave the way for further advancements in regenerative medicine for veterinary orthopedics.
