Abstract
Osteoarthritis is a common degenerative joint disease affecting dogs worldwide, leading to pain, reduced mobility, and decreased quality of life. Traditional treatments for osteoarthritis in dogs often provide temporary relief, highlighting the need for innovative and more effective therapies. Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising avenue for treating osteoarthritis, offering the potential for tissue regeneration and long-term improvement in joint function. This thesis aims to explore the efficacy of stem cell therapy in treating osteoarthritis in dogs. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, discussing the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review, covering ten key aspects related to osteoarthritis in dogs, stem cell therapy, and previous research findings in this field. In Chapter Three, the research methodology is detailed, including the study design, sample selection, stem cell isolation and characterization, treatment protocols, outcome measures, data analysis methods, and ethical considerations. Chapter Four presents an in-depth discussion of the research findings, including the efficacy of stem cell therapy in improving joint function, reducing pain, and promoting tissue regeneration in dogs with osteoarthritis. Finally, Chapter Five offers a conclusion and summary of the project thesis, highlighting the key findings, implications for veterinary medicine, limitations of the study, future research directions, and recommendations for the clinical application of stem cell therapy in treating osteoarthritis in dogs.
