Abstract
Osteoarthritis is a common degenerative joint disease affecting dogs, leading to pain, stiffness, and impaired mobility. Traditional treatment options often provide limited relief and may have adverse effects. Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising alternative for managing osteoarthritis by promoting tissue repair and reducing inflammation. This thesis explores the use of stem cell therapy in the treatment of osteoarthritis in dogs. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the study, including background information on osteoarthritis in dogs, the problem statement, research objectives, study limitations, scope, significance, and the overall structure of the thesis. Definitions of key terms related to the topic are also presented. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive literature review on stem cell therapy in veterinary medicine, focusing on its applications in osteoarthritis treatment. The review covers the mechanisms of action, types of stem cells used, therapeutic outcomes, safety considerations, and current research trends in the field. In Chapter 3, the research methodology is detailed, outlining the study design, sample selection criteria, stem cell source and preparation methods, treatment protocols, outcome measures, data collection procedures, and statistical analysis techniques employed in the study.
