Abstract
Urban green spaces play a crucial role in promoting mental health and well-being among urban residents. This thesis investigates the impact of urban green spaces on mental health in a rapidly growing city. The study focuses on assessing the quality and quantity of green spaces within the urban environment and their influence on mental health outcomes. The research methodology involves a comprehensive literature review, on-site observations, surveys, and interviews with residents to gather data on perceptions and experiences related to urban green spaces and mental health. The findings reveal the significance of urban green spaces in enhancing mental well-being, reducing stress levels, and promoting overall quality of life in a growing city. The results also highlight the importance of access to green spaces, design quality, maintenance, and programming in maximizing their benefits for mental health. The study provides valuable insights for urban planners, policymakers, and stakeholders to prioritize and enhance urban green spaces to support mental health in the context of urban growth. Overall, this research contributes to the existing body of knowledge on the relationship between urban green spaces and mental health, emphasizing the need for sustainable planning and management of green spaces in urban areas to create healthier and more livable cities.
