Urban areas globally are experiencing rapid population growth and economic development, leading to increased strain on transportation systems and environmental resources. Transit-oriented development (TOD) has emerged as a planning strategy to address these challenges by promoting sustainable urban growth through compact, mixed-use, and transit-friendly development patterns. This thesis aims to assess the impact of TOD on sustainable urban growth in order to provide valuable insights for urban and regional planning practices. The introduction section sets the context for the study by highlighting the importance of sustainable urban development and the role of TOD in achieving this goal. The background of the study outlines the evolution of TOD as a planning concept and its theoretical foundations.
