Gentrification, the process of urban transformation characterized by the influx of higher-income residents leading to the displacement of lower-income populations, has been a significant issue in urban planning and development. This thesis investigates the impact of gentrification on affordable housing in urban areas, focusing on understanding the drivers, consequences, and potential solutions to address this complex phenomenon. The study begins with a thorough exploration of the background of gentrification, highlighting its historical context and evolution in urban planning. Through a comprehensive literature review, various factors contributing to gentrification and its effects on affordable housing are examined. The research methodology employed includes both quantitative and qualitative approaches to collect and analyze data, encompassing surveys, interviews, and case studies to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Findings from the study reveal the multifaceted nature of gentrification and its detrimental impact on affordable housing availability and accessibility.
