Urban areas worldwide are facing challenges associated with rapid urbanization, environmental degradation, and climate change. As a response to these challenges, the concept of green infrastructure has gained prominence in urban planning and development. Green infrastructure refers to the strategic planning and design of natural and semi-natural features within urban areas to provide multiple environmental, social, and economic benefits. This thesis explores the incorporation of green infrastructure in urban redevelopment projects to enhance sustainability. The research begins with an introduction that sets the context for the study, highlighting the need for sustainable urban development practices. The background of the study provides a comprehensive overview of green infrastructure, its principles, and its potential benefits in urban settings. The problem statement identifies the gaps in current urban redevelopment practices and underscores the importance of integrating green infrastructure to address environmental challenges. The objectives of the study are to examine the effectiveness of green infrastructure in enhancing sustainability in urban redevelopment projects and to propose strategies for its effective implementation. The limitations and scope of the study are outlined to provide clarity on the research boundaries and constraints. The significance of the study lies in its potential to inform urban planners, policymakers, and developers on the benefits and best practices of incorporating green infrastructure in urban redevelopment projects. The literature review delves into ten key areas related to green infrastructure, sustainable urban development, urban redevelopment, and case studies of successful green infrastructure projects. The discussion of findings chapter presents a detailed analysis of the data collected, highlighting the benefits, challenges, and best practices of incorporating green infrastructure in urban redevelopment projects.
