Abstract
This thesis investigates the prevalent issue of cost overruns in construction projects, focusing specifically on residential high-rise buildings. The aim of the study is to identify the causes of cost overruns in such projects and propose strategies for mitigating them. The research methodology employed includes a comprehensive literature review, data collection through surveys and interviews, and data analysis using statistical tools. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance of the study, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two presents a detailed literature review on cost overruns in construction projects, covering ten key aspects such as risk factors, project management practices, and cost estimation techniques. Chapter Three describes the research methodology used in the study, including the research design, data collection methods, sample selection, data analysis techniques, and ethical considerations. The chapter also discusses the limitations of the study and the measures taken to address them. Chapter Four presents an in-depth analysis of the research findings, highlighting the key causes of cost overruns in residential high-rise construction projects.
