Abstract
The integration of technology in public administration has transformed service delivery in local governments through the implementation of E-Government initiatives. This thesis examines the impact of E-Government initiatives on service delivery in local governments, aiming to provide insights into the effectiveness of these initiatives in enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of government services. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative methods to gather and analyze data. The research begins with an introduction that sets the context for the study, followed by a comprehensive literature review that explores existing studies on E-Government initiatives and their impact on service delivery. Methodology outlines the research design, data collection methods, and analysis techniques employed in this study. Findings from the data analysis are discussed in detail in Chapter Four, highlighting the key outcomes and implications of the study. The results indicate that E-Government initiatives have significantly improved service delivery in local governments by streamlining processes, increasing citizen engagement, and promoting transparency. However, challenges such as digital divide, cybersecurity threats, and resistance to change were identified as barriers to the full realization of the benefits of E-Government initiatives. In conclusion, this thesis contributes to the existing body of knowledge by providing empirical evidence of the impact of E-Government initiatives on service delivery in local governments. The findings underscore the importance of continuous innovation and investment in technology to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of public service delivery. Recommendations are provided for policymakers and practitioners to further leverage E-Government initiatives for improved service delivery in local governments.
