Abstract
This thesis explores the impact of E-Government services on citizen engagement in public administration. In recent years, governments around the world have increasingly adopted information and communication technologies to improve service delivery and enhance citizen participation in governance processes. This study aims to investigate how the implementation of E-Government services influences citizen engagement within the realm of public administration. The research begins by providing an overview of the background and context of E-Government services, highlighting the growing significance of digital platforms in facilitating interactions between governments and citizens. The problem statement underscores the need to assess the effectiveness of E-Government initiatives in promoting citizen engagement and enhancing transparency and accountability in public administration. The objectives of the study are to analyze the relationship between E-Government services and citizen engagement, identify the challenges and limitations faced in implementing such initiatives, and assess the overall impact on public administration practices. The scope of the study focuses on a comparative analysis of E-Government programs in different countries to draw insights into best practices and lessons learned. The significance of this research lies in its potential to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on E-Government and citizen engagement, providing valuable insights for policymakers, public administrators, and researchers. By examining the experiences of various countries, this study aims to offer recommendations for enhancing the effectiveness of E-Government services in promoting citizen participation and improving governance outcomes. The structure of the thesis is divided into five main chapters. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presents the background of the study, articulates the problem statement, outlines the objectives, discusses the limitations and scope of the study, highlights the significance of the research, and provides an overview of the thesis structure. Chapter Two conducts an extensive literature review on E-Government services, citizen engagement, and public administration, analyzing existing studies, frameworks, and theories to build a comprehensive understanding of the research area. The review includes discussions on the evolution of E-Government, models of citizen engagement, and the benefits and challenges of digital governance. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures. The chapter also discusses ethical considerations and limitations in conducting the study, ensuring the validity and reliability of the research findings. Chapter Four presents the findings of the study, analyzing the data collected from case studies and interviews with key stakeholders involved in E-Government projects. The discussion focuses on the impact of digital platforms on citizen engagement, highlighting success stories and areas for improvement in public administration practices. Chapter Five concludes the thesis by summarizing the key findings, discussing the implications for policy and practice, and offering recommendations for future research in the field of E-Government and citizen engagement. Overall, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of the transformative potential of digital technologies in enhancing citizen participation and improving public administration processes.
