Thesis Abstract

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on cardiovascular health in sedentary young adults through a randomized controlled trial. Sedentary lifestyles have become increasingly prevalent, contributing to a rise in cardiovascular diseases among young adults. HIIT has gained popularity for its time-efficient and effective nature in improving cardiovascular fitness. This study aimed to provide valuable insights into the potential benefits of HIIT for this specific population. The study design involved a randomized controlled trial with sedentary young adults aged between 18-30 years. Participants were randomly allocated to either an experimental group that underwent a HIIT intervention or a control group that maintained their sedentary lifestyle. The HIIT intervention consisted of structured aerobic and anaerobic exercises performed at high intensity with short rest intervals. The study assessed cardiovascular health parameters, including heart rate, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and aerobic capacity, before and after the intervention period. Data analysis was conducted using appropriate statistical methods to compare changes within and between the experimental and control groups. The results of the study demonstrated significant improvements in cardiovascular health parameters among participants in the HIIT intervention group compared to the control group. Specifically, participants in the HIIT group showed reductions in resting heart rate, blood pressure levels, and cholesterol levels, as well as improvements in aerobic capacity. These findings highlight the potential of HIIT as an effective intervention for improving cardiovascular health in sedentary young adults. The study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence supporting the benefits of HIIT in this specific population. The implications of these findings for public health promotion and interventions targeting cardiovascular diseases among young adults are discussed. In conclusion, this study provides valuable insights into the effects of High-Intensity Interval Training on cardiovascular health in sedentary young adults. The results demonstrate the potential of HIIT as a time-efficient and effective intervention for improving cardiovascular fitness in this population. Further research is warranted to explore the long-term effects and sustainability of HIIT interventions in promoting cardiovascular health among sedentary young adults.

Thesis Overview

The research project titled "The Effects of High-Intensity Interval Training on Cardiovascular Health in Sedentary Young Adults: A Randomized Controlled Trial" aims to investigate the impact of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on cardiovascular health among sedentary young adults. This study will be conducted as a randomized controlled trial, which is a rigorous and reliable method to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions. Cardiovascular health is a critical aspect of overall well-being, and sedentary lifestyles have been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. High-intensity interval training, characterized by short bursts of intense exercise followed by brief periods of rest or lower intensity exercise, has gained popularity for its potential benefits on cardiovascular fitness and health. The research will begin with a comprehensive literature review to establish the existing knowledge on the effects of HIIT on cardiovascular health and the specific outcomes measured in previous studies. This review will provide the theoretical framework for the research and help identify gaps in the current understanding of HIIT in sedentary young adults. The methodology of the study will involve recruiting a sample of sedentary young adults and randomly assigning them to either an intervention group that will undergo a HIIT program or a control group that will maintain their sedentary lifestyle. Baseline assessments of cardiovascular health parameters such as resting heart rate, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and aerobic fitness will be conducted before the intervention. The HIIT program will be carefully designed and supervised to ensure safety and effectiveness, taking into account individual fitness levels and any underlying health conditions. The participants will undergo regular HIIT sessions over a specified period, and post-intervention assessments will be conducted to evaluate changes in cardiovascular health parameters compared to the control group. The data collected from the study will be analyzed using appropriate statistical methods to determine the impact of HIIT on cardiovascular health outcomes in sedentary young adults. The results will be interpreted and discussed in detail, considering the implications for public health and recommendations for future research or interventions. Overall, this research project seeks to contribute valuable insights into the potential benefits of high-intensity interval training on cardiovascular health in sedentary young adults. By conducting a randomized controlled trial, this study aims to provide evidence-based recommendations for promoting cardiovascular fitness and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases in this population.
