Abstract
The optimization of oil recovery techniques in mature oil fields using enhanced oil recovery methods is a critical aspect of petroleum engineering that aims to maximize the extraction of hydrocarbons from reservoirs that have already been in production for an extended period. This thesis explores the various enhanced oil recovery methods that can be employed to improve the overall recovery efficiency in mature oil fields. The research methodology involved a comprehensive review of existing literature on enhanced oil recovery techniques, followed by a detailed analysis of case studies and field data to evaluate the effectiveness of these methods in mature oil fields. Chapter One of the thesis provides an introduction to the research topic, highlighting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two presents a detailed literature review that covers ten key aspects of enhanced oil recovery methods in mature oil fields, including water flooding, gas injection, chemical injection, thermal methods, and microbial enhanced oil recovery. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology used in this study, which includes the selection of case studies, data collection methods, experimental design, simulation techniques, and statistical analysis.
