Abstract
The increasing prevalence of multi-drug resistant bacteria poses a significant challenge to public health worldwide. In response, there is growing interest in exploring alternative antimicrobial agents, such as plant extracts, for their potential efficacy against these resistant pathogens. This thesis investigates the antimicrobial properties of various plant extracts against multi-drug resistant bacteria, aiming to provide valuable insights into their potential as alternative treatment options. The study begins with a comprehensive review of the literature on multi-drug resistant bacteria, highlighting the mechanisms of resistance and the limitations of current antibiotic therapies. Following this, the research methodology section details the experimental design, including the selection of plant extracts, bacterial strains, and antimicrobial testing methods. Results from the study reveal promising antimicrobial activity of several plant extracts against a panel of multi-drug resistant bacteria, with some extracts showing potent inhibitory effects. The discussion of findings delves into the potential mechanisms of action of these plant compounds and their implications for combating antibiotic resistance. In conclusion, this thesis highlights the significance of exploring plant extracts as potential antimicrobial agents against multi-drug resistant bacteria. The findings contribute to the growing body of knowledge on alternative therapies for combating antibiotic resistance and underscore the importance of further research in this area. Ultimately, this study aims to pave the way for the development of novel antimicrobial strategies to address the global challenge of multi-drug resistant infections.
