This thesis explores the strategies and best practices for digital preservation of special collections in academic libraries. The study aims to investigate the current state of digital preservation practices in academic libraries, identify challenges faced in preserving special collections, and propose effective strategies to ensure the long-term accessibility and usability of these valuable resources. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, including the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms. The chapter sets the stage for the research by highlighting the importance of digital preservation for special collections in academic libraries.
