Digital preservation of audiovisual materials in libraries is a critical aspect of ensuring long-term access to valuable cultural heritage resources. This thesis explores various strategies and best practices for the preservation of audiovisual materials in digital formats within a library context. The research delves into the challenges faced by libraries in preserving these materials, such as technological obsolescence, format migration, and copyright issues. The study aims to provide practical recommendations for libraries to develop effective digital preservation strategies that can ensure the longevity and accessibility of audiovisual materials for future generations. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms. Chapter Two consists of a comprehensive literature review that examines existing digital preservation strategies and initiatives in libraries worldwide. The review covers topics such as digital asset management, metadata standards, preservation planning, and best practices for digitization and storage of audiovisual materials. Chapter Three details the research methodology employed in this study, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures. The chapter also discusses ethical considerations and limitations of the research methodology.
