The proliferation of technology and the internet has brought about numerous advantages and conveniences to society, but it has also created new avenues for criminal activities, particularly in the form of cybercrime. Online fraud, in particular, poses a significant threat to individuals, businesses, and governments worldwide. In response to this growing challenge, various cybercrime laws have been enacted to combat online fraud and protect digital assets. However, the effectiveness of these laws in addressing the evolving nature of cybercrime remains a subject of debate and scrutiny. This thesis aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of cybercrime laws and their effectiveness in combating online fraud. The research will delve into the background of cybercrime legislation, exploring its historical development and the rationale behind its enactment. By examining the problem statement, the thesis will identify the key issues and challenges in combating online fraud through legal means. The research objectives will focus on evaluating the efficacy of existing cybercrime laws, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and proposing recommendations for improvement.
