Thesis Abstract

<p> This project aims to assess the impact of insurance in promoting sustainable fishing practices. It will evaluate the role of insurance mechanisms in addressing the risks and challenges faced by the fishing industry, with a focus on environmental sustainability, resource management, and community resilience. The study seeks to analyze the effectiveness of current insurance products and policies in the context of sustainable fishing, propose strategies for leveraging insurance to support sustainable fishing practices, and provide insights into the development of effective insurance mechanisms to promote responsible and environmentally conscious fishing activities. <br></p>

Thesis Overview

<p> The fishing industry plays a crucial role in global food security, economic livelihoods, and environmental conservation. However, unsustainable fishing practices, overexploitation of marine resources, and environmental degradation have posed significant challenges to the long-term viability of fisheries and marine ecosystems. In this context, the role of insurance in promoting sustainable fishing practices has garnered increasing attention as a potential mechanism to address the complex risks and vulnerabilities faced by the fishing sector.
