Abstract
Leukemia is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow, leading to the abnormal production of white blood cells. There are several subtypes of leukemia, with the most common being acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The exact cause of leukemia is not fully understood, but it is believed to result from a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Diagnosis of leukemia often involves blood tests, bone marrow aspiration, and genetic testing to determine the specific subtype of the disease. Treatment options for leukemia vary depending on the subtype and stage of the cancer but typically include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, and stem cell transplantation. Despite advances in treatment, leukemia can be challenging to cure, particularly in cases of relapse or when the disease becomes resistant to standard therapies. Researchers are actively investigating new treatment approaches, such as immunotherapy and precision medicine, to improve outcomes for leukemia patients. Overall, leukemia remains a significant health concern worldwide, and continued research is essential to develop more effective therapies and ultimately find a cure for this devastating disease.
