Abstract
This thesis explores the impact of sustainable agricultural practices on household food security in rural communities. The study aims to investigate how the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices influences food security outcomes at the household level in rural areas. The research is motivated by the increasing challenges faced by rural communities in ensuring food security amidst environmental degradation, climate change, and other socio-economic factors. By assessing the effectiveness of sustainable agricultural practices in enhancing food security, this study seeks to provide valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders working towards sustainable development goals. The literature review examines various sustainable agricultural practices such as agroforestry, conservation agriculture, organic farming, and water management techniques in relation to food security outcomes. Key themes explored include the linkages between sustainable agriculture and food security, the benefits and challenges of adopting sustainable practices, and the role of social, economic, and environmental factors in shaping food security outcomes in rural areas. The research methodology section outlines the design of the study, including data collection methods, sampling techniques, and analytical approaches. A mixed-methods approach involving both quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews will be employed to gather data from rural households practicing sustainable agriculture. The study sample will be drawn from multiple rural communities to ensure a diverse representation of experiences and perspectives.
