This thesis explores the profound impact of colonialism on indigenous cultures through a comparative study of Nigeria and India. The study delves into the historical context of colonialism in both countries and examines how it shaped and altered the cultural landscapes of the indigenous populations. By analyzing the colonial policies, practices, and legacies in Nigeria and India, this research aims to shed light on the lasting effects of colonial rule on indigenous cultures. The introductory chapter sets the stage by providing a background to the study, stating the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and defining key terms. Chapter two conducts a comprehensive literature review comprising ten key themes related to colonialism, indigenous cultures, and comparative studies in Nigeria and India. This chapter synthesizes existing research and provides a theoretical framework for the study. Chapter three outlines the research methodology, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures. It also discusses ethical considerations and limitations of the research process. The fourth chapter presents a detailed discussion of the research findings, highlighting the specific impacts of colonialism on indigenous cultures in Nigeria and India. This chapter examines cultural changes, resistance movements, and the preservation of indigenous traditions in the post-colonial era.
