Colonialism has left a lasting impact on the socio-political structures of African nations, shaping their development trajectories and influencing contemporary governance systems. This thesis examines the multifaceted repercussions of colonial rule on the political landscape of Africa, focusing on how historical legacies continue to shape present-day institutions and power dynamics. Through a comprehensive analysis of colonial histories, post-independence challenges, and current governance trends, this research aims to illuminate the enduring consequences of colonialism on African societies. The introduction provides an overview of the research topic, presenting the background of the study and outlining the problem statement that guides this investigation. The objectives of the study are delineated, highlighting the aim to explore the various ways in which colonialism has impacted socio-political structures in Africa.
