This thesis examines the profound impact of colonialism on indigenous cultures through a comparative study of British and French colonies. The research delves into the historical context, exploring the background of colonial rule and its implications on the traditional ways of life of indigenous populations. By analyzing the experiences of indigenous communities under British and French colonial administrations, this study aims to shed light on the similarities and differences in the cultural transformations that occurred as a result of colonial intervention. The problem statement addresses the enduring effects of colonialism on indigenous cultures, including the loss of language, customs, and traditional practices. Through a multidisciplinary approach drawing from history, anthropology, and postcolonial studies, this research seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the complex dynamics between colonizers and colonized peoples. The objectives of the study are to analyze the strategies employed by British and French colonial powers to assert control over indigenous cultures, assess the resistance and adaptation mechanisms of indigenous communities in response to colonial policies, and evaluate the long-term consequences of colonialism on the cultural identity and heritage of indigenous peoples.
