Abstract
Colonialism has had a profound impact on indigenous cultures in various regions of the world. This thesis explores the effects of colonialism on indigenous cultures in Africa and Latin America through a comparative study. By examining historical accounts, scholarly works, and indigenous perspectives, this research aims to analyze the similarities and differences in the experiences of indigenous communities in these two regions during the colonial period and its aftermath. The study begins by providing an introduction to the topic, presenting the background of the study, defining the problem statement, stating the objectives, discussing the limitations, specifying the scope, highlighting the significance, and outlining the structure of the thesis. The literature review in Chapter Two delves into ten key themes related to colonialism and its impact on indigenous cultures, drawing from a wide range of sources to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Chapter Three focuses on the research methodology employed in this study, detailing the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and limitations of the methodology. Through a qualitative research approach, this chapter seeks to provide a robust framework for analyzing the impact of colonialism on indigenous cultures in Africa and Latin America. In Chapter Four, the findings of the study are presented and discussed in detail. The chapter explores the various ways in which colonialism has influenced indigenous cultures in Africa and Latin America, shedding light on the social, economic, political, and cultural transformations that have occurred as a result of colonial rule.
