Colonialism has left an enduring mark on the indigenous cultures of Africa and the Americas, shaping their societies and identities in profound ways. This thesis explores the impact of colonialism on these two regions, drawing comparisons and contrasts between the experiences of indigenous peoples in Africa and the Americas. Through a comprehensive analysis of historical accounts, scholarly research, and primary sources, this study delves into the multifaceted effects of colonial rule on indigenous cultures, including social structures, economic systems, political institutions, and belief systems. Chapter One sets the stage for the study by providing an introduction to the topic, background information, problem statement, research objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms. Chapter Two presents a detailed literature review that examines existing scholarship on colonialism and its effects on indigenous cultures in Africa and the Americas. Drawing on a wide range of sources, this chapter synthesizes key themes and debates in the field, providing a comprehensive overview of the topic.
