Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This thesis explores the impact of mindfulness training on stress reduction among college athletes through a randomized controlled trial. Stress is a prevalent issue among college athletes, affecting their mental well-being and performance. Mindfulness training has shown promise in reducing stress levels and enhancing overall well-being in various populations, but its efficacy specifically in the context of college athletes remains understudied. This study aims to address this gap by investigating the effects of a structured mindfulness training program on stress reduction in college athletes. The research design involves a randomized controlled trial, where participants will be randomly assigned to either a mindfulness training group or a control group. The mindfulness training group will undergo a structured program consisting of mindfulness meditation, breathing exercises, and cognitive-behavioral techniques aimed at enhancing self-awareness and stress management skills. The control group will receive no intervention during the study period. Data will be collected through self-reported measures of stress levels, well-being, and athletic performance at multiple time points before, during, and after the intervention. Statistical analyses, including t-tests and regression analyses, will be conducted to examine the impact of mindfulness training on stress reduction and its potential mediating effects on well-being and performance outcomes.
