Abstract
The assessment of groundwater quality in mining regions is crucial due to the potential negative impacts of mining activities on water resources. This study focuses on evaluating the groundwater quality in a specific mining region and proposes mitigation strategies to address any identified issues. The research methodology involved a comprehensive literature review, field sampling, laboratory analysis, and data interpretation. Chapter One provides an introduction to the study, including the background, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of terms related to the project. The literature review in Chapter Two covers ten key aspects related to groundwater quality assessment in mining regions, such as the impacts of mining activities on water quality, common contaminants, monitoring techniques, and regulatory frameworks. Chapter Three details the research methodology, including sampling techniques, laboratory analysis methods, data collection procedures, quality control measures, and data analysis techniques. The findings from the groundwater quality assessment are discussed in Chapter Four, highlighting the key parameters measured, their concentrations, spatial distribution, and potential sources of contamination.
