Abstract
Climate change is a global phenomenon that has significant impacts on coastal regions, particularly in vulnerable areas that are prone to coastal erosion. This thesis investigates the impact of climate change on coastal erosion and explores adaptation strategies in a specific vulnerable coastal region. The study focuses on understanding the dynamics of coastal erosion in the face of changing climatic conditions and aims to propose effective adaptation strategies to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change on the coastal environment. The research begins with a comprehensive review of the literature on climate change, coastal erosion, and adaptation strategies. The literature review highlights the current state of knowledge in these areas and identifies gaps that need to be addressed through empirical research. Subsequently, the research methodology is outlined, detailing the data collection methods, sampling techniques, and analytical tools employed in the study. The empirical findings of the research reveal the extent of coastal erosion in the vulnerable coastal region under investigation and the specific impacts of climate change on erosion processes. The study identifies key factors contributing to coastal erosion, such as sea-level rise, extreme weather events, and human activities. Furthermore, the research assesses existing adaptation strategies implemented in the region and evaluates their effectiveness in reducing the vulnerability of coastal communities to erosion.
