Abstract
Climate change is a global phenomenon that is increasingly affecting coastal regions, leading to significant environmental and socio-economic consequences. This study focuses on investigating the impact of climate change on coastal erosion in a specific region, aiming to understand the dynamics of coastal erosion processes and the associated vulnerabilities in the face of changing climatic conditions. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature, this research examines the various factors contributing to coastal erosion, such as sea level rise, extreme weather events, and human activities, and evaluates their specific impacts on the study area. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of historical data on coastal erosion rates and sea level rise with qualitative assessments of stakeholder perceptions and adaptation strategies. By conducting field surveys, interviews, and GIS mapping, the research identifies vulnerable coastal areas, assesses the level of risk posed by climate change-induced erosion, and explores the effectiveness of existing coastal management practices in mitigating these risks. The findings reveal a clear correlation between climate change and coastal erosion, with accelerated rates of erosion observed in response to rising sea levels and more frequent extreme weather events. The study identifies key drivers of coastal erosion in the study area, including unsustainable coastal development, poor land use planning, and inadequate coastal protection measures. Furthermore, the research highlights the urgent need for improved adaptation strategies to enhance coastal resilience and minimize the negative impacts of climate change on coastal communities. The implications of this study extend beyond the specific region under investigation, providing valuable insights for policymakers, planners, and stakeholders involved in coastal management and climate change adaptation efforts.
