Abstract
The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies into various aspects of society has raised significant interest and concern regarding its potential impact. This interdisciplinary study aims to explore the multifaceted effects of AI on society, considering its implications for individuals, communities, and institutions. Through a comprehensive literature review, this thesis examines the historical background of AI development, the current state of AI technologies, and the potential future trajectories of AI applications. The research methodology includes both qualitative and quantitative approaches, utilizing surveys, interviews, and case studies to gather data on public perceptions, ethical considerations, and policy implications surrounding AI adoption. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and structure of the thesis. Chapter Two presents a detailed literature review comprising ten key areas of study, including AI history, societal impacts, ethical considerations, legal frameworks, economic implications, job displacement, bias and discrimination, privacy concerns, security risks, and AI governance. This chapter synthesizes existing research to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current discourse on AI and society. Chapter Three delves into the research methodology, detailing the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, and ethical considerations. It explores how surveys, interviews, and case studies are employed to investigate public attitudes towards AI, ethical dilemmas in AI development, and policy recommendations for AI governance. Additionally, this chapter discusses the challenges and limitations encountered during the research process.
