The rise of social media platforms has transformed the way individuals communicate, interact, and engage with others. However, the pervasive use of social media has raised concerns about its potential impact on mental health. This thesis examines the impact of social media on mental health through a comparative analysis of different age groups. By exploring the experiences of individuals across various age demographics, this study aims to provide insights into how social media influences mental health outcomes. The research begins with a comprehensive review of existing literature on social media and mental health, highlighting key themes and findings from previous studies. Drawing on ten items from the literature review, the thesis synthesizes current knowledge on the relationship between social media use and mental health across different age groups. This serves as a foundation for the subsequent research methodology, which outlines the approach, data collection methods, and analysis techniques employed in the study. Through in-depth interviews and surveys with participants from diverse age groups, the research methodology section explores the nuances of social media usage and its impact on mental health. The findings from these research activities are presented in the discussion chapter, which provides an elaborate analysis of the data collected. By comparing and contrasting the experiences of different age groups, the discussion chapter offers valuable insights into the varying effects of social media on mental health.
