Abstract
In recent years, the pervasive influence of social media platforms on the mental health of young adults has become a topic of significant concern. This comparative study aims to investigate the impact of social media use on the mental well-being of young adults, focusing on the differences between various social media platforms. The research will explore how different social media platforms affect the mental health of young adults in terms of self-esteem, body image, anxiety, depression, and overall psychological well-being. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from a diverse sample of young adults. Through the analysis of survey responses and interview transcripts, the research aims to identify patterns and trends in social media use and its effects on mental health. By comparing the experiences of young adults across different social media platforms, the study seeks to provide insights into the varying impacts of each platform on mental well-being. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the relationship between social media and mental health among young adults. The results may have implications for mental health interventions and social media usage guidelines aimed at promoting positive mental well-being in this demographic. Ultimately, this study seeks to raise awareness of the potential risks associated with social media use and to provide recommendations for fostering a healthier online environment for young adults.
