Abstract
This thesis explores the impact of social media on mental health awareness and stigma reduction. In recent years, social media platforms have become powerful tools for disseminating information, connecting individuals, and shaping public perceptions. However, there is a growing concern about the potential negative effects of social media use on mental health, including the perpetuation of stigma surrounding mental health issues. This study aims to investigate the role of social media in raising awareness about mental health and combating stigma within society. Chapter One provides an introduction to the topic, outlining the background of the study, defining the problem statement, stating the objectives of the study, discussing the limitations and scope of the research, highlighting the significance of the study, and presenting the structure of the thesis. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review that examines existing research on the relationship between social media and mental health awareness. The review covers various aspects, including the positive and negative impacts of social media on mental health, the role of social media in reducing stigma, and the effectiveness of social media campaigns in promoting mental health awareness. Chapter Three details the research methodology employed in this study. It includes discussions on the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and potential limitations of the research methodology. In Chapter Four, the findings of the study are analyzed and discussed in detail. The chapter explores the ways in which social media can be leveraged to raise awareness about mental health issues and reduce stigma. It also examines the challenges and limitations associated with using social media for mental health advocacy. Finally, Chapter Five presents the conclusion and summary of the thesis.
