Abstract

This project examines the various environmental impacts of common lawn and landscape management practices. Lawn care and landscaping can impact the environment through the use of water, pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals. Alternative practices like xeriscaping and native plant landscaping are explored as more sustainable options. Through literature research and interviews with landscaping professionals, the impacts of conventional versus sustainable practices are compared. The findings provide homeowners and landscapers with information to make more environmentally-friendly choices.
