Abstract
This project examines natural carbon sinks, with a focus on wetlands, and their importance in mitigating climate change through carbon sequestration. It explores the role wetlands play in absorbing and storing atmospheric carbon through plant and soil accumulation. Major threats to wetlands that diminish their carbon storage potential are identified and discussed. The project concludes by emphasizing the need to protect and restore wetlands to leverage their carbon removal services for climate change mitigation.
