Abstract
This study examines the impacts of artificial light at night, also known as light pollution, on the natural behaviors of nocturnal wildlife in [location]. Field observations and camera trap footage were collected over a six-month period in natural areas with varying levels of light pollution to compare the foraging, hunting, movement patterns and activity levels of common nocturnal mammals and birds. The results indicate that light pollution disrupts the normal circadian rhythms of these species and alters their behaviors in ways that could negatively impact individual health and population viability over time. Suggestions are provided for mitigating light pollution to protect biodiversity while allowing for appropriate lighting in developed areas.
