This thesis focuses on the assessment of sustainable waste management practices in urban areas, utilizing a case study approach to explore current strategies and their effectiveness. The study aims to address the growing concerns surrounding waste generation, disposal, and recycling in urban settings, with a specific focus on promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, offering insights into the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms. The critical review of existing literature in Chapter Two examines ten key areas related to waste management practices, sustainability, urban planning, environmental impacts, recycling initiatives, policy frameworks, community engagement, technological advancements, best practices, and case studies. Chapter Three details the research methodology employed in this study, including research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, limitations, and the rationale behind the chosen approach.
