Abstract
This thesis investigates the effectiveness of sustainable waste management practices in reducing environmental impact. As the global population continues to grow and urbanization accelerates, the management of waste has become a critical issue for environmental sustainability. The study aims to assess the current waste management practices and their impact on the environment, with a focus on identifying sustainable approaches that can help mitigate environmental damage. The research methodology employed a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to establish a theoretical framework for understanding waste management practices and their environmental implications. Primary data was gathered through surveys, interviews, and field observations to evaluate the existing waste management systems in place and their effectiveness in reducing environmental impact. The findings reveal that traditional waste management practices, such as landfilling and incineration, contribute significantly to environmental pollution and resource depletion. In contrast, sustainable waste management practices, such as recycling, composting, and waste-to-energy technologies, offer more environmentally friendly alternatives that can help reduce the negative impact of waste on the environment. The study also identified key factors that influence the adoption of sustainable waste management practices, including policy support, public awareness, technological advancements, and economic incentives. By analyzing these factors, the research provides insights into how sustainable waste management practices can be promoted and integrated into existing waste management systems to achieve environmental sustainability goals.
