Sustainable waste management strategies are crucial for ensuring environmental protection, resource conservation, and public health. This thesis focuses on the assessment of sustainable waste management strategies in urban areas, with a specific emphasis on identifying effective approaches to minimize waste generation, promote recycling and reuse, and reduce the environmental impact of waste disposal methods. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, highlighting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. The chapter sets the stage for understanding the importance of sustainable waste management in urban areas. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review that explores existing studies, models, and best practices related to sustainable waste management in urban settings. The review encompasses ten key areas, including waste generation trends, recycling and composting programs, waste-to-energy technologies, policy frameworks, public awareness campaigns, and community engagement initiatives.
