The growing urban population worldwide has led to increased generation of waste, posing significant challenges to environmental sustainability. This study focuses on the assessment of sustainable waste management practices in urban areas, with a specific emphasis on identifying effective strategies to address the escalating waste management issues. The research investigates current waste management practices, challenges faced, and potential solutions to promote sustainability in urban waste management. The study begins with an exploration of the background of waste management in urban areas, highlighting the rapid urbanization and its implications on waste generation. The problem statement underscores the critical need for sustainable waste management practices to mitigate environmental degradation and public health risks associated with improper waste disposal. The objectives of the study are to assess existing waste management practices, identify key challenges, propose sustainable solutions, and evaluate their effectiveness in promoting environmental sustainability.
